Toen Ichigo Shimbun (of zoals je het misschien kent - Strawberry News!) in april 1975 voor het eerst werd gepubliceerd, telde het 12 pagina's en verscheen het twee keer per maand, met een prijs van 100 yen per nummer! Het begon met een voorstel van de Strawberry King om een krant te maken die zijn wens zou overbrengen dat iedereen in de wereld goed met elkaar overweg kan en compassie koestert.
